Selena Gomez's 'before and after' bikini pictures show she's been 'perfect' for over a decade

Selena Gomez has shared a new bikini pic, as she opens up about ‘self-love’. Instagram users may be used to perfectly toned bodies on celebs’ feeds, but the 31-year-old is here to offer a new refreshing perspective, and to remind us, they’re just like us.

The Disney Channel alum has been open about body-shaming in the past, after receiving comments after ‘gaining weight’ off the back of her lupus medication. Selena Gomez was diagnosed with the auto-immune disease in 2014 and has been candid about her body and illness ever since.

The Only Murderers in the Building star seems to have a love-hate relationship with Instagram. One moment she threatens to delete it, and the next she’s back posting. However, her latest post has been getting a lot of praise.

Gomez took to her stories to post a throwback picture of herself in a zebra bikini from 2013 when she was just 21 years old. In the caption, she wrote: “Today I realized I will never look like this again.”

The music star then went on to show a more recent photo from last year, as she vacationed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. This time she was wearing a more ‘covered up’ swim piece.

Alongside this picture, she wrote: “I’m not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am… Sometimes I forget it’s ok to be me.”

Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter to praise the star for posting the images and messages, as one wrote: “Selena Gomez, you are perfect either way.”

“I remember when she said in her documentary ‘My body doesn’t have to look the same way I was at 19’ and that’s been my motto ever since,” said one inspired fan.

A third simply wrote: “Perfect girl”.

The star is throwing it back in more ways than one

As well as her throwback bikini pics, the 31-year-old is also taking it back in time as she joins the Wizards of Waverley Place cast, as they star in a revival from the highly popular show.

The Disney Channel show saw Gomez shoot to fame in 2007, and she hasn’t looked back since. David Henrie, who plays her on-screen brother Justin, and some new actors to the franchise.

It’s been reported that David will play the main character, as Justin, and Gomez’s part as Alex Russo is said to be ‘fairly limited’.

No word as of yet on when exactly we can tune in, but it is said to be sometime in 2024.
