Town's Jim'll Fix It badge will FINALLY be destroyed 25 years after paedo Savile's gift
The largest ever show emblem was presented to Holyhead in 1991 after a local man wrote to the TV entertainer.
He asked for something to cheer up locals after a Christmas sickness bug swept through the town and ruined the festive period.
In response, Savile recreated Christmas for the day, sending boxing legend Frank Bruno and Hi Di Hi actress Ruth Madoc to the bash.
Thousands of people turned out before the huge, laptop-sized memento was presented.
But since the star was unmasked as a prolific paedophile, discussions have been taking place over what to do with the tainted present.
Mayor Ann Kennedy admitted the badge will most likely be destroyed.
She told the Daily Post: “Its a difficult decision in many ways, as it was such a lovely day and its not often that you can showcase your town to many millions of viewers."
She continued: “We still have the memories of course, but when you consider the severity of Jimmy Savile’s crimes, its not something we want to be associated with Holyhead.
“It seems the right thing to do.”
Savile's horrific crimes came to light in 2012 — almost a year after the disgraced celeb's death.
By 2013, 450 people had made complaints against Savile in a period of abuse stretching over 60 years from 1955 to 2009.
